Happy New Year, Dallas Stars fans. From all of us here at Blackout Dallas, we would like to wish each and every one of you a safe and exciting start to the 2019 calendar year!
But with a promising new year coming into focus, there’s also a need and desire to reflect on the past before closing the book on 2018. Reminiscing can be a powerful tool in the sense that not only does it remind you about where you’ve come from, but can also show what your future may hold based on your actions.
For the Dallas Stars, they have quite a lot to look back on over the past year. Heck, they have a lot to look back on over the past week. But, it’s been an intriguing year for the hockey franchise from Texas, to say the least.
Step back for a moment and rewind to Jan. 1, 2018. What were you doing? Celebrating a 6-0 Dallas Stars victory over the San Jose Sharks from the night before? Enjoying a day off of work? Recovering from a little too much partying? Whether you remember or not, you likely remember a lot that has happened since then.

365 days can bring a lot of change, whether positive or negative, to a hockey team. Over the past year, the Stars have endured ups and downs mixed with plenty of unexpectedness. There has been some good things, some bad things, some influential things, and a lot of overall change. The concept of change has become a common theme in the Stars’ franchise over the past few years, which can be argued as both a positive and negative trend.
Regardless of where you side, that change has carried the Dallas Stars to their current record of 20-16-4 with 44 points.
The 2017-18 season was a wild ride and the 2018-19 year has been nothing short of entertaining so far. But how does it all tie up over the past 365 days? It’s been an exciting journey so far filled with plenty of twists and turns.
