It’s been two weeks since the Dallas Stars last exited the ice for the final time in their 2018-19 campaign. And though the sting of a double overtime loss in Game 7 may still linger, the Stars production team is here with a unique and new perspective of the final game as well as the exit interview session.

The pain of a Game 7 loss can be one of the worst feelings in all of professional sports. And in the past four years, the Dallas Stars have doubled down on that pain.

It all started on May 11, 2016. After winning 50 games and securing both a Central division title and the top seed in the Western Conference, the Stars won their opening round playoff series against the Minnesota Wild and advanced to round two. And after sitting in a 3-2 series hole but staving off elimination with a road win in Game 6, Dallas was throttled 6-1 by the St. Louis Blues on home ice in the deciding Game 7.

The disappointing finish to a promising campaign proceeded to hover over the franchise for two more seasons as the Stars started up a two-year playoff drought.

But in 2018-19, they found a way to break out of the funk. The Stars conquered months of adversity, combated injuries and mediocrity with their own inner resilience, and found a way to stay in the thick of a tight Western Conference playoff race throughout the season.

By the time Game 82 rolled around, Dallas had secured the top wild card spot in the Western Conference and advanced to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The path they followed was eerily familiar to the one that they took in 2016. They won their first-round series in six games against a Central division opponent (the Nashville Predators) and took the Blues to seven games in round two. But after a double overtime show that included an incredible performance from goaltender Ben Bishop, the Stars couldn’t punch their ticket to the Western Conference Final as Pat Maroon scored a game winning goal for St. Louis.

Two days later, the Dallas Stars hosted exit interviews and prepared for another important offseason ahead.

And now, they’re on the offseason trail. And while that may still be a tough reality to accept, it’s the one that they’ve been given.

But before they dive into the heat of the summer, the Dallas Stars Production Team has provided fans with a strong parting segment.

In the “Open Ice” series that they have built throughout the 2018-19 season, the Stars Production Team helps provide fans with an inside look at the Dallas Stars franchise. From playoff series, to the playoff push, to Miro Heiskanen‘s rise to fame, they have Stars fans covered from top to bottom with behind-the-scenes audio and video. It’s a high-quality production that every Stars fan could benefit from watching.

And in their final segment of the year (properly titled Last Words), Stars fans can take an in-depth look at the Dallas Stars’ Game 7 journey (including some of the highlight-reel moments and the heartbreaking finish). The video offers fans the chance to further digest the finale from a new angle as well as taking in the highlights from exit interview day. At the end, there’s a blooper reel, just in case fans need something to soften the blow.

It’s a grade-A, top-notch feature from the Dallas Stars Production crew and is a great (if not sentimental) way to put a bow on the 2018-19 campaign.
