The 2019 NHL Fan Choice Awards offer hockey fans a chance to show their support and fandom for their favorite teams and players. And in the 2019 voting, the Dallas Stars came away with an impressive haul of titles and victories.

The Dallas Stars have hit a relatively rotten patch of luck over the past few summers at the NHL Awards.

At the 2016 show, the Stars went 0-for-4 on their nominations when Jamie Benn fell short of winning both the Ted Lindsay Award and Hart Trophy, Jim Nill didn’t win GM of the Year, and Lindy Ruff missed out on the Jack Adams Award. In 2018, John Klingberg finished in the Top 10 in voting for the Norris Trophy, while Radek Faksa finished in the Top 10 in voting for the Selke Trophy.

And at the 2019 show on Wednesday night, Miro Heiskanen finished fourth in the Calder Trophy voting after a stellar rookie campaign with Dallas, while Ben Bishop fell short of winning the Vezina Trophy with a second place finish.

It’s been a rough few years for the franchise when it comes to winning some big hardware each June in Vegas. But, it seems as though what they lacked in the 2019 NHL Awards, they made up for in the 2019 NHL Fan Choice Awards.

On Wednesday morning, the NHL released the voting results for the Fan Choice Awards. After a successful debut in 2018, the league brought back the Fan Choice Awards in 2019, giving hockey fans another chance to choose their favorite players, plays, and moments from the 2018-19 season across 20 different categories. All 31 teams (and even the NHL’s 32nd team coming soon to Seattle) were involved in at least one category, giving fans of every team a chance to support their favorite club.

And, as it happened to pan out, the Dallas Stars had their fingerprints all over the nominations list.

Of the 20 categories, the Stars were involved as a finalist in four of them. Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin were named a finalist for Best Bromance, Anton Khudobin earned a nomination for Best Goalie Mask, Ben Bishop was nominated for Best Halloween Costume, and the Dallas Stars’ creative team earned a nomination for creating the Top Team Video.

After a month of the polls being open and fans voting on a daily basis, the winners were announced on Wednesday shortly before the NHL Awards began. And of the four nominations that included the Stars, the team walked away with three titles. Here’s a look at the final results.

BEST BROMANCE

Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin – 44 percent

Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and Patrick Marleau – 37 percent

Dylan Strome and Alex DeBrincat – 12 percent

Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider – 8 percent

Brock Boeser and Ben Hutton – 13 percent

TOP TEAM VIDEO

Khudobin’s mask is the only Dallas Stars nomination that didn’t win, though Khudobin racked up 26 percent of the vote with his “Dobby” mask. He finished in second place to Robin Lehner, who received 32 percent of the vote for his mask entitled “My Reality” that depicted his years of person struggles with mental illness. Lehner also won the 2019 Masterton Trophy for his perseverance and dedication to hockey on Wednesday night at the NHL Awards.
