The Dallas Stars lost to the San Jose Sharks 2-1 on Saturday night. This is the third loss on this pivotal pacific division road trip as the Stars try to earn some critical points towards the wild card standings. Here’s the recap of the loss that the Stars took in San Jose.

Dallas Stars vs San Jose Sharks: 1st period

Braden Holtby was the savior for the Stars in the first period tonight as he held the Sharks to only one goal in the first period. Tomas Hertl scored midway through the first to give the Sharks an early 1-0 lead. The Stars did however outshoot the Sharks 14-6 in the first period which is an improvement from the last game against the Kings.

Dallas Stars vs San Jose Sharks: 2nd period

The second period was really sloppy for the Stars due to a lot of miscommunication in the offensive zone and terrible passes. Erik Karlsson scored a goal with 3:32 left in the second period to make it 2-0 Sharks. The Stars need to wake up soon or else this game will be out of reach early in the third period. It’s not even like the Stars are awake out there on the ice. The only positive is Holtby held the Sharks to one goal in the second.

Dallas Stars vs San Jose Sharks: 3rd period

I don’t know what to even think of the Stars after this third period. We did manage to get a goal from Michael Raffl to cut the Shark’s lead to 1 but we didn’t go after rebounds. The Stars would shoot the puck at the Sharks Goaltender and not even try to poke the puck through his legs. The Stars would go on to lose 2-1 and fall to 13-9-2 on the season. The next game will be against the Blues on Tuesday night at home.

They need to start learning how to win on the road quickly or else they won’t be in the running for the wild card spots for the playoffs at the end of the season. If that means making some trades to bring in more players who can score, then that’s what it’s going to take to get back in the race for the playoffs.
