The Dallas Stars gave it their all tonight against the defending Stanley Cup Champions, but it wasn’t enough. The Stars would go on to lose the game in the 3rd period by a score of 3-1. After the game there was tons of “chatter” from fans wanting Rick Bowness to be fired. Here is what happened down in Tampa on Saturday night.

Dallas Stars vs Tampa Bay Lightning: 1st period recap

The Dallas Stars looked kind of sluggish on the ice to start the 1st period. That’s kind of understandable on a back to back game situation. Esa Lindell got his second goal of the season 13 minutes into the period to give the Stars the lead 1-0.

Unfortunately. that lead wouldn’t last as long as the Stars would have liked. The Stars would go to the penalty box at the end of the first period. Brayden Point would score his 15th goal of the season on the power play with 13 seconds left in the period to tie it at 1. The Stars were about even with the lightning in most categories except hits.

Dallas Stars vs Tampa Bay Lightning: 2nd period recap

The 2nd period was a snooze fest for the Stars, they got some chances on the offensive end and they couldn’t convert. Anton Khudobin would go on and keep this game tied at 1 going into the second intermission. The Stars were outshot 9-1 in the 2nd period, if the Stars wanted to win this game, they would have to come out swinging in the 3rd period.

Dallas Stars vs Tampa Bay Lightning: 3rd period recap

The Stars came out of the locker room with not a lot of motivation to win the game. The Lightning would add two goals in the period. The first goal was scored by Ross Colton and the open net dagger was scored by Alex Killorn. The Stars would go on to lose 3-1 and out scored 10-2 on the current roadtrip. Next game is against the Canadians at home and then back on the plane for a four game roadtrip.-
