The Dallas Stars traveled to New Jersey and were able to finish their road trip with an undefeated record. The Stars exorcised the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night by a final score of 5-1. This is what the Stars needed to turn the season around as they make a push for the playoffs. Here’s a recap of a high-scoring game for the Stars against the Devils.

Dallas Stars vs New Jersey Devils: 1st period recap

You know some days this team does amaze me, the Stars were able to strike in the first 14 seconds into the game. Joe Pavelski and the minuteman execute the triangle to perfection and it’s 1-0 Stars early. They would also have to kill a penalty early on in the game and did that perfectly.

Midway through the first, Jacob Peterson would score his second goal in the last two games to make it 2-0 Dallas. Pavelski will go on hat trick watch with 2 minutes remaining in the first period as he makes it 3-0 Dallas.

The Stars go into the first intermission up 3-0 and lead in shots on goal 9-7. Don’t know what they ate for the pregame meal, but it better start becoming the player’s favorite meal.

Dallas Stars vs New Jersey Devils: 2nd period recap

Roope Hintz decides to really end this game 15 seconds into the 2nd period as he made it 4-0. The Stars seem to really have command of this game so far midway through the 2nd. Jack Hughes has basically been shut down by the Stars in this game which is a key to beating the Devils.

Jesper Bratt would end the scoring drought for the Devils on the power play as he makes the score 4-1 Stars. This is something that the Stars need to clean up if they want to remain in the chase for a playoff spot. Luke Glendening would drop the gloves with Ryan McLeod and McLeod would end up on the ice three punches later.

The Stars would go into the second intermission up 4-1 and in complete control of this game. The Stars would still lead in the shots on goal category 22-21. At this point in the game, I still think the Stars aren’t safe with a three goal lead. They need to shut down the Devils in the 3rd and get ready for the trip back home.

Dallas Stars vs New Jersey Devils: 3rd period recap

The Stars and the Devils for the first half of the period exchanged a lot of shots on goal with none going in. Holtby makes a highlight save with 9 minutes left in the game as he was able to stop a tap in attempt from Dawson Mercer. Jain Hakanppa would get the empty netter as the Stars go on to win 5-1. The Stars head back to Dallas to take on the Capitals and honor Sergei Zubov Friday night.
