Dallas Stars vs Winnipeg Jets: 1st period recap

Oettinger would get tested by Winnipeg’s offense early to start off the game. What’s really concerning is the Star’s offense only had two shots on goal in the first seven minutes of the game. Blake Wheeler would open up the scoring eight minutes into the 1st to make it 1-0 Jets.

Star’s offense would get going in the second half of the 1st period generating shots on Connor Hallebuyck. The Stars would also go on the first power play of the game after Wheeler tripped Lindell. They wouldn’t convert on their power play opportunity.

The Jets would lead going into the first intermission 1-0. Stars had a lot of good opportunities in the 1st and just need to keep attacking and capitalize on some of them.

Dallas Stars vs Winnipeg Jets: 2nd period recap

The Stars would get a break and go on a 4 minute power play to start the 2nd due to the Josh Morissey high-sticking Pavelski and drawing blood. The Stars wouldn’t score and basically averaged a shot on goal a minute on that extra-man opportunity.

Benn and Seguin would get a 2-on-1 opportunity and Winnipeg would break it up. Jets would get their first power play as John Klingberg would go to the penalty box for tripping. Stars would keep getting opportunities on offense but they just can’t convert.

Winnipeg would go back on the power play after Raffl was sent to the box. However, Winnipeg would turn the puck over in Dallas’s zone and Jamie Benn would score a shorty to tie the game at 1.

Stars would go into the 2nd intermission tied at 1 with Winnipeg and get a power play to start the 3rd. The Stars were able to convert on a turnover to get back into this game. Will that goal be a spark for the Star’s offense going into the 3rd?

Dallas Stars vs Winnipeg Jets: 3rd period and OT recap

The Dallas Stars would start the 3rd period on the power play due to the Jets tripping Benn as time expired in 2nd. The Stars would get some shots on goal during the extra man advantage, but wouldn’t convert. The Jets would go on their third power play of the game and Mark Scheifele would convert to make it 2-1 Jets.

Denis Gurionov would finally convert on one of the shot attempts by Dallas late in the 3rd to tie it up at 2. The Stars and the Jets would go to OT which would be the second time in a row that a Stars Jets game this season would be decided in extra time.

Tyler Seguin would deflect the puck up high and it would cross the red line. After the stoppage of play, the refs would review the goal and determined it did cross the line and the Stars would win 3-2 against the Jets in OT.
