The Dallas Stars next stop on their road trip takes them to UBS Arena as they take on the Islanders. This will be the first time that they meet the Islanders this season. After a sloppy game up in Montreal, the Stars look to polish their game up in their new arena. Here are the keys to the game if the Stars want to “catch that W” in New York.

Dallas Stars vs New York Islanders Preview: 3. Polish the game up

The Stars need to polish their overall game this afternoon. The Stars had some really good moments like checking in Montreal’s zone Thursday night. They also had some bad moments like the “dump and chase” strategy while having the lead in the 3rd period. If they can merge both things together and continue to score, they will have a shot to get their first win at UBS Arena.

Dallas Stars vs New York Islanders Preview: 2. Get Hintz going on offense

Roope Hintz showed he really wanted to score against Montreal. Hintz has had his offensive flashes here and there this season. I would really like to see if Rick Bowness can get a line together that can help get Hintz scoring again. If we can get Hintz and Jason Robertson scoring constantly on offense. That could be a huge help to Jake Oettinger while he’s protecting the net.

Dallas Stars vs New York Islanders Preview: 1. Let Scheel start this game

The New York Islanders are a team that I’d be comfortable letting Adam Scheel play against. It would only be for this game and would allow Oettinger to rest from all the shots Montreal gave him on Thursday night. It wouldn’t hurt to see if he’s ready to be Oettinger’s backup next year or we need to resign Braden Holtby to another one year deal.
