The Dallas Stars look to ride out the hurricane in Raleigh

The Dallas Stars travel to Raleigh North Carolina to finish the series against the Carolina Hurricanes. This is one of the last matchups the Stars have against the Eastern Conference this year. The Stars look to get the series sweep against Carolina this series tonight and keep themselves in the playoffs.

In the first meeting this season, Roope Hintz dominated the Hurricanes by scoring a hat trick and Braden Holtby kept the pucks out of the net. Here are the keys to the game if the Stars want to ride out the hurricane and get two points.

Dallas Stars vs Carolina Hurricanes: 3. control their crowd

Carolina has one of the loudest and rowdiest fan bases in all of the NHL by far. The Stars need to quell the crowd early on in the 1st period. If the Stars allow the Hurricanes to get off to a quick start and the crowd continues to be loud, they can kiss stealing a victory on the road.

If the Stars can get off to a quick start and keep the crowd very quiet, then the Stars can get two points on the road and continue to get a better playoff spot as the season winds down.

Dallas Stars vs Carolina Hurricanes: 2. Score early and often

In the last game against the Oilers, the Stars got off to a really slow start which made the Dallas crowd very concerned. Like I said in the key above, the Stars have to get off to a really fast start in order to keep the rowdy Carolina crowd quiet. They can’t wait until the 2nd or 3rd period to get on the board.

Dallas Stars vs Carolina Hurricanes: 1. Defense!

Jake Oettinger is going to need some help since we are going up against the best team in the Metropolitan Division. That means the Stars need to keep their top scorers at bay by playing defense by checking players into the boards and clearing pucks out the Stars zone.
