If the Dallas Stars don’t make the playoffs this season, they will look back at their last road trip and wonder what could have been. They can still make the playoffs this season though, they need to beat the Seattle Kraken tonight at the American Airlines Center. The Kraken are already eliminated from the playoffs so they look to ruin Dallas’s chances. Here are the keys to the game if the Stars want to keep their playoff chances alive.

Dallas Stars vs Seattle Kraken Preview: 3. Attack at will

Stars need to continue to skate the puck into the zone and test Dreiger often early. Tonight is not the time to dump the puck into the zone and try to set something up. If the Stars can just flood him with shots, someone will get a rebound and put it into the back of the net. This is the only offensive way that can save the Stars’ playoff hopes.

Dallas Stars vs Seattle Kraken Preview: 2. Otter time

Jake Oettinger looks back to his normal self in the last game against the Calgary Flames. If I’m Rick Bowness, I’m putting Oettinger in the net tonight to save my job. While the Stars need to help him out by clearing the puck out of their zone, he’s my best bet to save the Star’s season tonight.

Dallas Stars vs Seattle Kraken Preview: 1. Pray Vegas has an off night

The Stars desperately need the Las Vegas Golden Knights to lose on Saturday night in order to keep their playoff chances alive. If the Stars can win Saturday and Vegas loses, that would give the Stars a two-point cushion in the standings going into Tuesday’s game against the Golden Knights. The only thing left I have to say is the Star’s season comes down to how they play in these next two games.
