Dallas Stars fail to score against the Calgary Flames as they lose 1-0

Sometimes in playoff hockey, all you need is one goal to win a game. That’s what happened as the Calgary Flames beat the Dallas Stars 1-0 on Tuesday night at the Saddledome. The Stars had a bunch of chances on the power play but would go 0-5 on the night. Here is a game recap of how the Stars playoff game against the Flames went.

Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Game 1: 1st period recap

Nothing much to say about the Stars in this period. The Stars were basically outplayed by Calgary for 20 minutes. Elias Lindholm would score 4 seconds into a Calgary Flames power play to make it 1-0 Calgary.

As the horn signaled the end of the 1st period, Michael Raffl and Matthew Tkachuk dropped the gloves after John Klingberg was leveled against the boards by Tkachuk. After that was settled down, Klingberg dropped the gloves with Rasmus Andersson.

After the dust settled after the fights, it was announced during the intermission that Klingberg and Andersson would be ejected from the game for their fight. Both teams would have to play with 5 defenseman for the remainder of the game.

At the end of the 1st period, the Dallas Stars trail the Calgary Flames 1-0. The Stars were outshot 11-3 but lead in face offs won 8-6. Stars hopefully can get something going after the huge brawl at the end of the period.

Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Game 1: 2nd period recap

The Stars did a lot better in the 2nd period on offense getting chances. Unfortunately they couldn’t score on anything on Jacob Markstrom. Oettinger has been remarkable between the pipes after giving up the first goal of the game. At the end of the 2nd period the Stars would still trail the Flames 1-0. Calgary would still lead Dallas in shots on goal 20-13. Stars have the Flames where they want them, Just got to get at least a couple of goals in the 3rd period.

The Stars would have some really close goals in the 3rd period. One of them was a redirection by Tyler Seguin that would miss the pipe by an inch. The next attempt was one on a breakaway that Roope Hintz would send wide of the net. The Stars couldn’t get it done with the extra man on the ice as they fall 1-0 to Calgary in game 1 of the series.
