The Dallas Stars look to regroup and tie the series in game 2 against the Calgary Flames tonight. The Stars looked like they were starting to get things going offensively in the 2nd period and they just couldn’t get anything past Jacob Markstrom. Stars are going to have to get more aggressive on offense if they want to avoid getting swept by the Flames. Here are the keys to the game if the Stars want to tie the series heading back to Dallas.

Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Game 2 Preview: 3. Attack Markstrom

Stars have to get aggressive against Markstrom in Game 2. No more dumping the puck into the zone unless they are changing up the lines. The Stars just need to drive at the net with it and keep poking around for a rebound. If the Stars continue with the dump and chase style of offense, it could be a super long night in Calgary.

Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Game 2 Preview: 2. Keep up the Defense

Stars need to continue frustrating Calgary’s top line on defense tonight. They did a good job of that only allowing one goal throughout the entire game. The Flames are probably going to adjust their offensive game plan so the Stars need to be ready for any changes the Flames throw their way. I’m not worried about Jake Oettinger being a defensive liability after game 1 on Tuesday night. If the Stars can continue to slow down their offense, they have a shot winning game 2.

Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Game 2 Preview: 1. Silence the Saddledome

The Stars need to silence that crowd early on in the game. The only reason why Calgary probably scored on that power play was the crowd giving the Flames that momentum on the power play. Stars seemed to do better once the crowd settled down in game 1. Stars can tie this series easily if the crowd level is at bay.
