The Dallas Stars have reached what is called the greatest event in the playoffs. The Stars face off against the Calgary Flames in game 7 for the right to move on in the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Stars are no stranger to game 7’s. They have plenty of veterans that have played in game 7’s throughout their career. Stars just need to lay it all out there on the ice and hope that the Calgary Flames don’t one up them on home ice. Here are the keys to tonights do or die game in Calgary.

Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Preview: 3. Let them have it

It’s time to release all that anxiety the Stars have coming into this game onto the Flames’ players. They just need to check them constantly into the boards and block their shots. Don’t let the Flames get any momentum going early on in the game. I know they will do everything in their power to get a goal in the 1st period to get into Jake Oettinger’s mind.

Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Preview: 2. Don’t let the Flames get to your mind

If the Flames get a goal early on in the game, just continue playing your game. They can’t start thinking “what if” in the middle of the game. That’s a recipe for possibly losing game 7 and going home. The Stars have come from behind in the series before so if the Stars can keep their emotions in check, I’m not worried if we get behind by a goal.

Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Preview: 1. Don’t stop at one goal

For the love of all things kind and nice, please do not score a goal and then “turtle up”. That is the last thing the Stars need to do on the offensive and defensive side of the ice. If the Stars score a goal, great keep racking up the score. They need to send a message to the next opponent they play that they won’t be a walk in the park to the conference finals.
