You hate to see a goaltender like Jake Oettinger in a game 7 situation put up 64 saves and lose the game. Well it happened in Calgary in Game 7 as the Dallas Stars were eliminated from the playoffs by the Calgary Flames in OT. The Stars gave it everything they had and as a fan you shouldn’t be mad about their playoff run this season. They challenged a division champion and took them to 7 games. Here is what happened in Calgary as the Stars fell to the Flames.
Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Game 7: 1st period recap
Jamie Benn did not waste anytime from the opening puck drop to get things started. He did not get into a fight but he did score a goal. Benn would put the Stars on the board to give them a 1-0 early lead.
Jake Oettinger would handle the Calgary Flames for the remainder of the period as the Stars would take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission in Calgary. Stars set the tone early in this game and hopefully they would continue that as the game went along.

Tyler Toffoli would get Calgary on the board as they would tie the game up at 1. However 90 seconds later, Vladislav Namestnikov would answer with a goal of his own to give the Stars the lead back.
Jake Oettinger would continue his brilliance as a goaltender by stunning the Calgary Flames. Matthew Tkachuk would find a way to get one past him to tie the game back up at 2 heading into the final intermission. Stars needed to come out in the 3rd and give it their all to avoid overtime.
Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Game 7: 3rd period/OT recap
No one would end up scoring in the third period as both goaltenders were in “lockdown mode” making sure pucks were not getting past them. The game would end up going to overtime and Jake Oettinger would stun a bunch of people on national TV.

Even with that brilliant performance he had tonight, Johnny Gaudreau had to ruin the fun. He would score in OT as the Flames would eliminate the Stars in OT. Stars had a great run but the Flames had the better players with playoff experience.
