The Dallas Stars will be honoring two very important members of the franchise tomorrow against the New York Rangers. Bob Gainey and Derian Hatcher will be doing the ceremonial puck drop as part of being the first class into the Dallas Stars Hall Of Fame. The Rangers look to spoil the festivities with Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider. Hopefully the Stars are well rested coming into this game since it’s at 1 P.M. Here are the three keys to the game against the Rangers.
Dallas Stars vs New York Rangers Preview: 3. Rangers have an offense
Don’t let that 3-3-2 record fool you, The Rangers have some very good hockey players on this team. Artemi Panarin, Kreider and Zibanejad are just a few players that make up this skilled offense. That’s why the Stars need to be careful coming off that 2-0 win against the Capitals all “high and mighty”. If the Stars aren’t focused on defense, the Rangers can really hurt you. That’s why I think today might be a trap game for the Stars with all the festivities going on before the game.
Dallas Stars vs New York Rangers Preview: 2. Let Jake Oettinger run it back in net
With the way the Stars had a game on Thursday night, it would be best to allow Oettinger to start again. Oettinger is coming off his first shutout of the season and I would go with him again. If Oettinger needs a break for the game against the Kings, Wedgewood can start that one. I would really like Oettinger to be well rested for Arizona. I’ll get more into that in the next pregame article.
Dallas Stars vs New York Rangers Preview: 1. Go out and win it for the Stars Legends in attendance
When we retired Sergei Zubov’s jersey last season, the Stars ended up getting beat by the Washington Capitals. The last thing that the Stars need to do is lose with two prominent franchise legends in the house. I hope that the Stars learned from last season and put on one heck of a show tomorrow for Gainey and Hatcher.
