With this being their third game in four days, the Los Angeles Kings came into this game exhausted. The Dallas Stars really needed to take advantage of this situation and get a win to get back on track. The Pavelski and Sons line sparked the Dallas Stars to a 5-2 win last night over the Kings. The Stars got back to playing dominating hockey without Oettinger between the pipes. Here are the three main takeaways from last nights game against the Kings.
Dallas Stars vs Los Angeles Kings Recap: 3. Miro Heiskanen is a total game changer
Miro Heiskanen just makes this team so much better on offense. His two assist proved pivotal in the victory over the Kings. Another interesting fact was he was on the ice for all 5 goals tonight. The Stars could have really used him on Saturday against the New York Rangers. Until Oettinger gets back from his injury, we are really going to need Heiskanen to help lead this team.
Dallas Stars vs Los Angeles Kings Recap: 2. The Defense stepped up and helped Wedgewood
Scott Wedgewood isn’t a bad goalie as long as he has help from his teammates. For the most part, the Stars were able to get the Kings to cough up the puck and get it out of the zone. That truly lifted the pressure off of Wedgewood from having to make so many saves tonight. The Stars are going to need this to continue while they are on the road starting in Arizona this Thursday. The Stars can maintain first place in the Central Division if Wedgewood “Cooper Rushes” until next week.
Dallas Stars vs Los Angeles Kings Recap: 1. Offer Roope Hintz whatever he wants (within reason) to remain in Dallas
Roope Hintz is the next contestant to have the “Brinks Truck” backed up to his house. Hintz had a two goal performance last night and showed the Stars they have to resign him next offseason. The Stars can’t afford to be cheap with him in contract talks. He’s already given the Stars some team friendly deals. The Stars have other issues at hand for now as they have to keep Wyatt Johnston away from the beer pong tables and sorority houses Thursday night at Arizona State.
