Tonight’s Dallas Stars game felt like an episode of Marvel’s What If…? series. You start to wonder what if the Stars didn’t turn the puck over so many times exiting their own zone tonight? The San Jose Sharks took advantage of turnovers tonight and beat the Dallas Stars 5-4. You have to give credit to the Sharks tonight if you are a Stars fan. The Stars coughed up the puck a lot tonight and the Sharks capitalized. Here are three takeaways from the game tonight against the Sharks.

Dallas Stars vs San Jose Sharks Recap: 3. Turnovers

You cant turn the puck over as many times as the Stars did tonight and expect to win a hockey game. The Sharks took advantage of Stars turnovers early in the second and third period and basically thats why they won. Stars have to handle the puck better exiting their own zone. Stars have to really work on that over the next couple of games on the road.

Dallas Stars vs San Jose Sharks Recap: 2. Matej Blumel needs a new line

Maybe it was just because everyone was a bit off tonight, but Blumel seems to have no chemistry with Seguin or Marchment. I understand Pete DeBoer plugging him there since Gurianov is out with an injury, but he has no chemistry with them. He should have moved Johnston up to Seguin’s line and plugged Blumel in with Benn’s line. Blumel still had a good night where he almost caused a “sound earthquake” with his breakaway chance. I would still like to see some more action from him Sunday.

Dallas Stars vs San Jose Sharks Recap: 1. Jamie Benn is back

The only reason the Stars were in the game in the second period briefly was Jamie Benn. Jamie Benn scored twice in the opening frame and his second goal couldn’t come at a better time. Benn’s  second goal of the game made it a brand new hockey game going into the second period. Benn’s scoring resurgence should scare other teams around the league. Jamie Benn has finally found his scoring again and the Flyers should be worried Sunday when the Stars are in town.
