After seeing that Colorado’s game in Nashville was postponed due to a water main break, I knew the Dallas Stars were in trouble tonight. The Stars couldn’t get anything going on offense tonight as the Colorado Avalanche bury them 4-1. The only bright thing about the loss was that Jason Robertson’s point streak is now at 15 after the assist on Joe Pavelski’s goal tonight. Got a lot to talk about this loss to the Avalanche. Here are the three main takeaways from tonight’s game against Colorado.

Dallas Stars vs Colorado Avalanche Recap: 3. Penalties!!!!!!!!!!

I missed the beginning of the game due to an event and I couldn’t believe what I saw when I checked my phone. I saw that the Dallas Stars committed a penalty 37 seconds into the game. That’s personally the quickest I’ve ever seen a hockey team commit a penalty while being a fan of this sport. The Stars have got to cut this out against divisional teams cause it could cost them a playoff spot if we end up tied with a team at the end of the season.

Dallas Stars vs Colorado Avalanche Recap: 2. Time to bench Ryan Suter

This man is going to make me age 15 years over the course of the season. Ryan Suter has now become a liability on the ice for the Stars. The number of times that I’ve seen him not play defense in our own zone is staggering.

I think the only time I was happy tonight was when he went to the penalty box. I knew he wasn’t going to help give the Avalanche a goal for at least two minutes. Stars need to sit down with him and talk about a possible trade. There are multiple defensemen down at Cedar Park I would put in the lineup over him.

Dallas Stars vs Colorado Avalanche Recap: 1. Pete DeBoer’s post game comment

Pete DeBoer has had one heck of a start as the Dallas Stars Head Coach. He really has the team moving in the right direction. Tonight’s postgame comments made by him on Bally Sports Southwest puzzle me. During the interview, he said, “the team had a lot of energy.”

After watching the highlights again online, I didn’t see a lot of energy until we were already in a huge deficit. I wished we came out of the gates in the first period with “that energy” he was talking about. I know it was a back-to-back game situation for Dallas and they were gassed. At least put some energy into building a lead in the first frame of the game. Luckily, the Stars are off on Sunday and they will have a day of rest going into the St. Louis Blues matchup.
