The Dallas Stars went overtime once again, and fans had the right to be nervous. The Stars have had the worst of luck in OT this season, only winning once. Nils Lundkvist put those nerves to rest as he scored the game-winning goal in OT as the Stars slashed the Detroit Red Wings tires 3-2. The Stars fought hard today to get those two points. It doesn’t give us first place in the Central Division but it does show that the Stars are learning to win it in OT.
Dallas Stars vs Detroit Red Wings Recap: 3. OT Progress
After the win today against the Red Wings in OT, it looks like the Dallas Stars are turning a page. Early on in the season, the Stars had lost five games in OT. This past week the Stars have won two games in OT against Detroit and Ottawa. It’s a whole new ball game when it gets to bonus hockey since 3-on-3 hockey requires a whole new game plan and strategy. Let’s hope the Stars have turned the page on their very bad luck in OT.
Dallas Stars vs Detroit Red Wings Recap: 2. Jamie Benn continues his good season
Jamie Benn is continuing to add to his outstanding season by adding a goal today against the Red Wings. He finally broke through the scoring drought that he has recently. With the goal today, he is only two goals from tying Brian Bellows for the 2nd most goals in Dallas Stars history. That is such a huge accomplishment for a player to achieve. I don’t know if he will catch Mike Modano but hopefully, he can continue scoring goals on the road this upcoming week.
Dallas Stars vs Detroit Red Wings Recap: 1. Don’t scratch Nils Lundkvist
I think Pete DeBoer probably won’t scratch Nils Lundkvist unless he’s injured in the future. In the last five games, Lundkvist has two goals and an assist. After giving the rookie a break, Nils seems to be finding his role on this team. he’s averaging 14-16 minutes of ice time in the last five games he’s played in. Hopefully, he can continue to make an impact as the Stars hit the road for an east coast trip next week.
