The Dallas Stars were able to take care of business tonight as the Stars were able to beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1. This was a whole new side to the team that we haven’t seen before and I will get to that down below. First off, let’s congratulate Mr. Jake Oettinger on 100 career games as a Dallas Stars goaltender. He got the win and most importantly he is 2nd in most wins by a Dallas Stars goaltender through 100 games. Let’s take a look at the three take aways of tonights game.

Dallas Stars vs Columbus Blue Jackets Recap: 3. Stars show a new side of them

The Dallas Stars tonight showed the NHL that they can still win games even if the offense isn’t producing. The only times that the Stars have won this season scoring less than three goals was the two games against the Capitals this season and tonight. Other than that, the Stars have been racking up the goals in their other victories. Tonights victory just shows how dangerous this Dallas Stars team on any night during the season.

Dallas Stars vs Columbus Blue Jackets Recap: 2. Defense stepped up huge in the third

The Stars defense really showed up in the third period when the Blue Jackets got some good chances. I can’t believe I’m saying this but Ryan Suter stepped up and helped out the team big time in the third period. He stopped a couple of chances that the Blue Jackets could have scored on. Now if we could just get him to start scoring more goals that would be great. Overall, a good night for the Stars offense.

Dallas Stars vs Columbus Blue Jackets Recap: 1. Jason Robertson broke the scoring drought

Robertson finally broke his scoring drought that began against the Toronto Maple Leafs. I don’t know how didn’t have a multiple point game against the Blue Jackets tonight. He had so many chances in the 1st period, I don’t know how he didn’t cash one in. Hopefully he can continue his new point streak at home Wednesday as the Stars welcome Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.
