Roope Hintz comes to the rescue late in 3rd to give Dallas Stars a 3-2 win
That was probably one of the best starts to a game that the Dallas Stars have had in a while. I’ll get to why it was down below in just a minute. Roope Hintz provided the late heroics in the final minute to give the Stars a 3-2 win over the Nashville Predators. With the two points that were earned tonight, the Stars continue to separate themselves from the rest of the Central Division. Here are the three takeaways from tonights win against the Nashville Predators.
Dallas Stars vs Nashville Predators Recap 3. Stars have really good first period
The Dallas Stars had a really good 1st period and I felt it was their best one they’ve had in a while. Even though the Stars only got one goal in the period, their press defense was amazing. It’s what caused the turnover that led to Jamie Benn’s goal in the first period. The Stars also forced them to shoot the puck into the stands which gave us two power plays. The last amazing thing is that they were able to keep the puck in Nashville’s zone and got shots on net.
Dallas Stars vs Nashville Predators Recap 2. Jamie Benn makes franchise history
When Jamie Benn scored in the first period tonight, he officially became the second all-time goal scorer in franchise history with 343 goals. That is a pretty big accomplishment for someone who has spent their entire career with one franchise. I don’t know if he will be able to make it to 558 goals which would pass Mike Modano for number one in franchise history. But it would be pretty amazing to witness if he did pull it off.
Dallas Stars vs Nashville Predators Recap 1. Fredrik Olofsson had a pretty big debut
The Dallas Stars called up Fredrik Olofsson from the Texas Stars earlier today. It kind of surprised fans as they were expecting Marian Studenic or Riley Damiani instead. However, he had one heck of a debut tonight. He made some pretty big hockey IQ plays down the stretch and almost picked up his first career assist tonight. He really compliments the checking line and Pete DeBoer should give him some more minutes against the Minnesota Wild Thursday night.
