The Dallas Stars have a quick trip out to the west coast this week. Their quick trip will start in the city of Los Angeles as they take on the Kings. The Stars will look to add to their four-game winning streak that they are on. This is a very strange week as they have back-to-back games on Tuesday and Wednesday. After that, they are off basically until January 8th when they take on the Florida Panthers at home. Stars need to learn how to win back-to-back games so this is the perfect week to learn how to. Here are the three keys to the game against the LA Kings.

Dallas Stars vs Los Angeles Kings Preview: 3. Continue to find success on the extra man advantage.

The Dallas Stars have found tons of success recently on the extra-man advantage recently. On New Year’s Eve, they were able to score two power play goals against the Sharks. They were even able to get one while the Sharks were on the power play when Roope Hintz scored that short-handed goal. The Stars have got to continue punishing teams for committing penalties.

Dallas Stars vs Los Angeles Kings Preview: 2. Shut down Gabriel Vilardi and Adrian Kempe

These are two Kings players that the Stars have got to cover and shut down. Vilardi currently leads the Kings with 16 goals going into this matchup with the Stars. Kempe is not far behind in second place with 14 goals. The Stars defense has got to make sure that they don’t have any clear shots on whoever starts between the pipes for Dallas. Could be a very long night if either of these players is able to find the back of the net.

Dallas Stars vs Los Angeles Kings Preview: 1. Keep the Benn-Johnston-Marchment experiment going

The Dallas Stars have had a second line start to really shine over the last week and a half. Benn Johnston and Marchment have really come together as a line and I have a hunch they are due for a huge breakout anytime soon. If I’m Pete DeBoer, I would keep the line together for awhile. These three guys have created grade A chances out of thin air and that’s why they should remain a line against the Kings tonight.
