The Dallas Stars took off for their yearly road trip against the New York teams Monday. They will kick off their road trip in Elmont, New York taking on the New York Islanders at UBS Arena. The Stars got over their two-game losing streak on Sunday afternoon as they destroyed the Florida Panthers 5-1. Even though the Islanders are in sixth place in the Metropolitan Division, the Stars can’t take them lightly. Here are the three keys to the game for the Stars to avoid a trap game.
Dallas Stars vs New York Islanders Preview: 3. Mason Marchment needs to score
If there is one person that needs to get a goal tonight, it’s Mason Marchment. He is currently on a pretty bad goal skid right now. He needs to find a way to get a goal tonight against the Islanders. Hopefully, Jamie Benn and Wyatt Johnston can help him by setting him up for some one-timers. If that doesn’t work, then Pete DeBoer will more than likely change up the lines to see if he can find a combination that can help Marchment find the scoresheet again.
Dallas Stars vs New York Islanders Preview: 2. Shut down Brock Nelson and Anders Lee
The Stars need to shut down Brock Nelson and Anders Lee tonight at UBS Arena. They are their two biggest scoring threats up to this point in the season. Nelson has 15 goals and Lee is right behind him with 14 on the season. I’m concerned that if the Stars allow them to get a goal tonight, they could energize the crowd. It would be a long night for the Stars if the Islanders get the early momentum.
Dallas Stars vs New York Islanders Preview: 1. Let’s do the opposite on the east coast
The Stars are going on an east coast road trip this week with stops against both of the New York hockey teams. Last week the Stars lost their two games on the west coast against the Kings and the Ducks. Hopefully, the Stars can do the opposite on the east coast by getting a couple of wins and returning home to Dallas.
