After what was almost another miracle comeback at home against the Calgary Flames, the Dallas Stars hit the road for the west coast once again. Their first stop will be in Sin City as they take on the Las Vegas Golden Knights. With the Winnipeg Jets winning on Sunday against the Coyotes, the Stars need to win this game if they want to reclaim first in the Central Division again. They can’t afford to have another defensive meltdown tonight. Here are the three keys to the game against the Golden Knights.
Dallas Stars vs Las Vegas Golden Knights Preview: 3. Relentless offense
I don’t know if Roope Hintz will be in the lineup tonight against the Golden Knights. I’ll let you know if he makes the lineup during the day if it’s announced. Even if he doesn’t make the lineup, the Stars need to be relentless on the offensive end from the opening puck drop. The puck needs to be constantly going at the Golden Knights goaltender protecting the net. Everyone needs to contribute to the offense, not just Jason Robertson and the top line.
Dallas Stars vs Las Vegas Golden Knights Preview: 2. Defense needs to be sharp
The Stars can’t afford to have another start like they did in the previous game against Calgary. The defense all around has to be sharp tonight. They will have to contain Reilly Smith and Mark Stone as they are the Golden Knights offensive juggernauts. If the Golden Knights are able to score, it will energize the crowd and it will be a nightmare for Dallas.
Dallas Stars vs Las Vegas Golden Knights Preview: 1. Protect the goaltender
The Stars need to protect whoever their goaltender will be tonight. Recently, the team has failed to provide defensive support for either goaltender. In the last game, the Stars didn’t give Scott Wedgewood any defensive support. The team needs to help whoever the goaltender is to keep the puck out of the net.
