The Dallas Stars only have two games before they get the week off due to the All-Star Break. They have to give it their all tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes at the American Airlines Center tonight. Like the Stars, the Hurricanes are the leader of their division as well. It looks like we are in for a very good heavyweight title fight tonight. I also can’t wait to see how Roope Hintz continues playing after returning from injury tonight. Here are the three keys of the game tonight for the Stars against the Hurricanes.
Dallas Stars vs Carolina Hurricanes Preview: 3. Get out to that early lead again
The Stars did a good job of capitalizing on a power play early on against the Buffalo Sabres on Monday night. It stinks that the Sabres came to play and ultimately won in overtime. I know that the Hurricanes are not going to give the Stars that much time to build that lead. Pete DeBoer would be wise if he started the top line tonight against the Hurricanes to set the tone.
Dallas Stars vs Carolina Hurricanes Preview: 2. Stop Andrei Svechnikov
Andrei Svechnikov is the Carolina Hurricanes’ top scorer going into the matchup tonight with the Stars. He currently has 19 goals and 18 assists so far this season. Miro Heiskanen needs to be on him at all times tonight on the ice. They can’t allow him to remain wide open in front of whoever the goaltender is tonight for the Stars. If he is able to find the back of the net, it could be a long night for Dallas as he can energize the team with a goal.
Dallas Stars vs Carolina Hurricanes Preview: 1. Go into the All-Star break on a high note
The Stars are going up against the top two Metropolitan teams in the final two games before the All-Star break. The Stars need to get these two wins for their confidence after the week off from hockey. With the home-ice advantage that the Stars have at home, I have confidence that they can get to the All-Star break with a couple of wins.
