Dallas Stars finally get over OT Curse against Anaheim Ducks
I’m sure the Dallas Stars just needed the All-Star break to get rid of their OT/Shootout curse. The Stars would honor Jamie Benn tonight by getting him a win in his 1000th win over the Ducks 3-2. It was great seeing the team back on the ice together after a long week off. The Stars got off to a quick start and they went back to their old ways in the third period. Luckily, Jason Robertson and Tyler Seguin scored in the shootout to get the win tonight. Here are the three takeaways from the game.
Dallas Stars vs Anaheim Ducks Recap: 3. Finally got over the OT/Shootout woes
The Stars finally ended their OT losing streak that they started before the All-Star break. It would have probably never happened if the Stars were able to score on all of the chances they had tonight. The Stars needed this win in the best way possible tonight. I could only imagine what the locker room mood would have been if they didn’t get the win on Jamie Benn’s 1000th game.
Dallas Stars vs Anaheim Ducks Recap: 2. Every Dallas Star had a shot on net
The one good thing that happened for the Stars tonight was that every Stars player except the goaltenders got a shot on goal tonight. The feat was announced during the game on Bally Sports Southwest. It’s the first Stars game that I’ve watched where this has happened. The Stars need everyone to at least contribute to the scoring and they definitely did just that last night. Hopefully, this is a trend that can continue as the season moves along.
Dallas Stars vs Anaheim Ducks Recap:1. Nils Lundkvist needs to remain in the lineup
Nils Lundkvist should not be a healthy scratch anymore after tonight’s game. Not taking anything away from Benn but Lundkvist was the best player on the ice tonight. He got an amazing goal where he sneaked down toward the net and Radek Faksa fed him the puck for the tap-in. Lundkvist is now up to three goals and eight assists on the season bringing his point total to 11. I think he is going to have a good hockey career with the Dallas Stars.
