Dallas Stars melt the surging Colorado Avalanche in Dallas 7-3
Yee to the haw, that was a really good hockey game on National Television yesterday afternoon at the American Airlines Center. The Dallas Stars showed the Colorado Avalanche who was the boss in the Central Division beating them 7-3.
I have never seen the Dallas Stars come out that hot out of the gate. I don’t think we were even a quarter of the way through the first period when Jason Robertson scored the first goal of the game. The only mistake the Stars made was letting up somewhat in the last ten minutes of the game Here are the three takeaways from yesterday’s game against the Avalanche.
Dallas Stars vs Colorado Avalanche Recap: 3. The physicality
That was one of the best physical games that the Stars have played all season long. I don’t think I’ve seen the Stars check as many players into the boards in the first period, unlike yesterday. Jamie Benn put one of their youngest players “to sleep” in the first period. They need to continue to play like that for the remainder of the season so other hockey teams in the Western Conference become afraid to play them in the playoffs.
Dallas Stars vs Colorado Avalanche Recap: 2. Goal droughts end
When I saw Mason Marchment lead the team over for the goal fist bumps, I about lost my voice. Marchment finally ended his goal streak today at 32 games by redirecting the puck into the net. You could tell he was relieved as soon as the puck crossed the goal line. Joe Pavelski also ended his goal streak as well today. It was a great time to contribute and get the monkey off the back before the playoffs start in mid-April.

Dallas Stars vs Colorado Avalanche Recap: 1. Wyatt Johnston is a special guy
Wyatt Johnston also set a Dallas Stars milestone today that can’t be ignored. He now leads the most goals by a Dallas Stars teenager after his 16th goal in the 3rd period yesterday. He has basically become a “Swiss army knife” for the Stars this season chipping in on the Power Play, Penalty kill, and has contributed even strength goals. Logan Stankoven can’t touch that record so when he joins the team next season, Wyatt Johnston will have something over him.
