The Dallas Stars look to bounce back after an embarrassing loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night. They look to drain the Edmonton oilfields as they take on Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers tonight. It will not be an easy task as McDavid is lighting up the score sheet right now. The Stars are also down two players that they absolutely need tonight if they want a shot at the win tonight. Here are the three keys of the game for the Stars tonight if they want another two points.

Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers Preview: 3. Score

The Dallas Stars need to attack the net tonight, it’s simple as that. The Edmonton Oilers will not give you a 15-minute head start. They will come out of the gate attacking and your goalie better be ready for him. The Stars have to come out of the gate being aggressive on the goaltender. I want to see them shut down the crowd early on in this game. If the Stars can come out of the gate strong and score multiple goals, I like our chances at winning tonight on the road.

Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers Preview: 2. Shut down McDavid

I think it’s pretty simple on who the Stars really need to shut down tonight, Connor McDavid. He has 56 goals and 73 assists going into tonight’s matchup. The Stars have shut him down before this season but it’s no easy task. They need to have Miro Heiskanen on him at all times tonight in the Stars zone. I cannot imagine anyone else getting the task of shutting him down. The last thing the Stars need is Ryan Suter leaving him unattended in front of the net.

Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers Preview: 1. Help Otter out tonight

Jake Oettinger is going to need the Stars to help him protect the crease tonight. I can tell you after the last game against Vancouver that Matt Murray will not be getting the start against McDavid and the Oilers. The Stars need to seriously help him out more defensively. There is only so much that Oettinger can do to defend the net. It’s going to take a total team effort tonight if the Stars want to keep building that gap between them and the Minnesota Wild.
