The Dallas Stars went into game 6 and took care of business last night. The last thing they needed was to bring this series back to Dallas with a rejuvenated Minnesota Wild squad. Thanks to Roope Hintz’s nasty goal to open up the scoring, the Stars would go on to win 4-1 against the Minnesota Wild and eliminate them from the 2023 NHL Playoffs.
Once again, Jake Oettinger was freaking fantastic in between the pipes and secured this series victory against his home state. The Stars now await the winner of game 7 between the Colorado Avalanche and the Seattle Kraken.
That should be a fun game for Stars fans to watch on Sunday since we have nothing else to do until that gets settled. I’m also happy that we get a couple of extra days to rest so that way Joe Pavelski will be at 100% for the next round. Let’s take a look at the three takeaways from last night’s win over the Minnesota Wild.
Dallas Stars vs the Minnesota Wild Recap: 3. Joe Pavelski gets another couple days of rest
Joe Pavelski is probably the happiest player on this Stars roster right now. Thanks to the Avalanche for beating the Kraken last night and forcing game 7, he gets a couple more days of rest. Pete DeBoer mentioned at the end of his press conference that those extra days of rest can be a huge factor in how far you get in the playoffs. I hope the players take time to rest when they get back to Dallas because whoever we play is going to bring it in the semifinals.
Dallas Stars vs the Minnesota Wild Recap: 2. Roope Hintz is Kyrie Irving on skates
Roope Hintz just probably ended up on SportsCenter Top 10 plays this weekend. It’s unfortunate that he had to do it against a former teammate but Hintz was able to pass the puck around him that then roofed it past Filip Gustavsson. He has been the “Energizer Bunny” in the scoring department this series. His breakaway goal in game 2 propelled them to a win. Roope has to keep getting the puck in the net for the Stars in the next series.
Dallas Stars vs the Minnesota Wild Recap: 1. They did it for Papa Joe
How depressing would have it been if the Stars did not win this series and we didn’t see Pavelski until next season? These guys went to battle out there the last five games of this series and made sure that Pavelski was able to play hockey again this season. The team chemistry the Stars has is so strong and that’s what makes this team so deadly going into the playoffs. Now we get to see this team at full strength against the Avalanche or the Kraken in round 2 in May.
