The Dallas Stars are currently on the struggle bus on the way to the 2023 Stanley Cup Finals. Their opponent is none other than the Vegas Golden Knights. Unfortunately, the future is looking pretty grim for the Stars. Let’s take just a little bit of a break from all of the sad and depressing information and realism and talk about their future, or as some might wanna call it…the glory days. Have the Stars ever won the Stanley Cup? Do they have another one in them this year? Let’s chat!

Have the Dallas Stars ever won the Stanley Cup? Let’s take a glimpse into their past and how it just might impact their future!

Short answer, yes. The Stars have won the Stanley Cup previously, but only once. As far as Conference Finals wins, they’ve got three of those in the bag, and as far as a fourth goes, well that’s looking a little grim right now.

Back in the 1998-1999 regular season, the Dallas Stars made it past every opponent in every round, including the most important one, the finals, where they beat the Buffalo Sabres in not one, not two, but in triple overtime to win 2-1 in Game 6. During this game, Brett Hull scored the GWG (Game Winning Goal) in order to bring the cup to Texas for the very first time. Since then, they’ve made it to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1994, 1999, and 2020.

I personally take credit for the Conference Finals win in 2020 because back then, it was my very first time making a bracket and I chose them to win. Everyone made fun of me, and look! They made it to the SCFs! The Stars have been such a hot and cold team, but that’s okay because they’ve still been pretty dang fun to watch nonetheless.

Okay, unfortunately, now we’ve gotta get to some of the nasty, nitty-gritty details that aren’t so fun to talk about.

As of right now, the Dallas Stars are down 3-0 in the Western Conference Finals. Tonight, May 25th, 2023, they play Game 4 against the Vegas Golden Knights in Dallas. Unfortunately, home ice meant absolutely nothing for them in Game 3 because they got completely shelled with a 4-0 shut-out loss.

A whole heck of a lot more will have to be done in order to secure tonight’s win and even with a win tonight, they’d still have to go on and win the next three games, two of them being away at least, and who knows if that’ll ever happen.

All we can do at this point, as Stars fans, is to hope and pray that tonight is a different ball game, a different narrative, a different story. Do they secure the Game 4 win tonight? We shall see…….
