After Dallas Stars Head Coach Pete DeBoer was hired, we saw Captain Jamie Benn in his golf attire shaking hands with him in the hallway. Little did we know that handshake was about to spark a huge season for Benn offensively. Part of the reason why he might have had such a huge season was due to his line mates Ty Dellandrea, Evgenii Dadonov and Wyatt Johnston. Hopefully that offense can continue this upcoming season as the Stars look to make it back the Western Conference Finals.

Jamie Benn looked like the offensive juggernaut that he was when he entered the league and became captain of the Dallas Stars. Fans called it a resurgence of the Bennaisance Era. Last season, Benn scored 36 goals and recorded 53 assists during the regular season and playoffs combined. It was like DeBoer unlocked that offense that was hindered by the former coach Rick Bowness.

Hopefully Pete DeBoer doesn’t restructure the lines too much during training camp. I think Jamie Benn should stay line mates with Dadonov and Johnston. When those three were on the ice together, they can generate some offense. Realistically Jamie Benn could match his goal total from last year this upcoming season and that’s what you should expect. He might have a decrease in assists but if he remains healthy, I don’t see why not he can’t drop around 36 goals.

As we wrap this article up, Benn is probably going to remain captain of the Stars through the remainder of his contract even after the incident in the playoffs. I don’t know if he will hang them up or go to another team after that but we will cross that bridge when we get to it. For now, the Stars need him to keep scoring goals if they want to remain a playoff contender like they were last season.
