The Dallas Stars prospects are getting a lesson in preparing for back-to-back games as they are back on the ice today. They will be taking on the Toronto Maple Leafs Prospects tonight at 5:30 PM CT. The Stars looked quite impressive last night in their 4-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings. The next lesson for them is whether can they put an impressive win behind them and focus on the next opponent. Let’s take a look at the three keys to the game against the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight.

Dallas Stars vs. Toronto Maple Leafs: 3. Play physical again tonight

Let’s see if the physical play can continue tonight against the Maple Leafs. The Stars prospects’ showed they won’t be pushed around on the ice last night. I would like to see if they can maintain that physicality in back-to-back games. That will show if any of them are ready to take the next step towards making the Dallas Stars roster. If you can’t be physical in back-to-back games, you won’t make it in the NHL.

Dallas Stars vs. Toronto Maple Leafs: 2. Put the game away early

Another thing I want to see from the prospects tonight is if they can put the game away early tonight. One of the things teams somewhat look for at these tournaments is if the prospects can bury their opponents early and not let them hang around to the very end. The Stars made some mistakes last night allowing the Red Wings to hang around in the 3rd period. I would like to see this game over with by the middle of the second period tonight.

Dallas Stars vs. Toronto Maple Leafs: 1. Logan Stankoven takeover

The last thing I want to see tonight is if Logan Stankoven can take over the game tonight. If he wants to make the opening night roster this season, he has to show he can put up more than one assist. They need to bump him up to the top line and see if that sparks a multi-goal game from him tonight. He showed last night he’s got the physicality and passing the puck down. Now he needs to show he can score some goals.
