I don’t want to dampen anyone’s happiness if you’re going to the Dallas Stars preseason game against the Minnesota Wild tonight. I just have a weird feeling about the Stars putting some core players in the lineup tonight such as Jamie Benn. It’s just I don’t want to see anyone get hurt and could be possibly out for the year. That is the last thing that the Stars especially need going into the regular season that is just around the corner.
From my experience, teams in the NHL usually reserve the first three games of the preseason for players who are trying to make an impression on the front office brass. For example, that would be players like Logan Stankoven, Mavrik Bourque, and Lian Bichsel.
It’s not for players like Benn, Seguin, Robertson and others. I know they need to get some preseason action before the regular season starts but usually, they add the core players with three games left in the preseason to make sure they don’t get hurt.
Now I’m not the Head Coach or General Manager of the Dallas Stars, so I’ll keep my mouth shut about the lineup tonight. I would not want to write an article on a player like Benn tearing an ACL tonight. I just can’t fathom seeing a player of his caliber get injured in a meaningless game tonight on home ice. I rather have him healthy and leading the team onto the ice at the home opener on October 12th against the St. Louis Blues.
To all those going to the game tonight, enjoy the atmosphere tonight in the American Airlines Center. Enjoy the new jumbotron that they put in the arena. Cheer on the Dallas Stars loudly tonight, I’m sure some of our core players will enjoy hearing the crowd coming out onto the ice underneath the star.
