The Dallas Stars face off against the St. Louis Blues tonight at the American Airlines Center for the last time during the preseason. The next time these two teams meet they will be playing in the regular season next Thursday night. The Stars will also be celebrating Hispanic heritage tonight on the PNC Plaza before the game so make sure you come out early for the festivities. Let’s look at the three keys of the game against the St. Louis Blues tonight.

Dallas Stars vs. St. Louis Blues Preview: 3. Start to form opening day lines

I know that the roster is basically already set for tonight but in the second to last preseason game, you got to start forming opening night lines. Stars’ fans should expect to see a preview of the opening night lines tonight with some exceptions (Roope Hintz, Wyatt Johnston). The Stars only have one more preseason game after this so we might get a sneak preview of the opening night lines this weekend.

Dallas Stars vs. St. Louis Blues Preview: 2. Logan Stankoven, Mavrik Bourque chemistry

The one thing the Stars need to do before they go back down to Cedar Park for the year is play Mavrik Bourque and Logan Stankoven together. These two are the future of the franchise and it would be nice to treat the home crowd with them playing on the same line tonight. This will also give Texas Stars Head Coach Neil Graham a look at who will be on his top line this season. Might as well have some fun with these two before they head down to Cedar Park for AHL Camp which has already started.

Dallas Stars vs. St. Louis Blues Preview: 1. Have fun!!!!!!

With this being the second to last preseason game on the Stars’ schedule this season, just go out there and have fun tonight. These games really mean nothing other than finding out which prospects are close to making the team and messing with line combinations. While yes it will be nice to win tonight, this is more of making sure everyone is on the same page for next Thursday night. Regardless of what happens tonight, go out and have fun tonight and try and win the game.
