The Dallas Stars announced their opening night roster yesterday afternoon and the team hit the ice this morning to practice. They are going up against the St. Louis Blues at home on Thursday night and it looks like the Stars will have a healthy roster to start the season. I know Dallas Stars Pete DeBoer wanted a full roster for the last preseason game but he should have one Thursday. Let’s look at what went on at practice today as the Stars get ready for Opening Night.

Dallas Stars October 10th Practice: New beat reporter in town

Before we get to what happened at practice today, I want to welcome the newest Dallas Stars Beat Reporter Club member to Texas Hockey. Dallas Morning News Beat Reporter Lia Assimakopoulos announced a couple of days ago that she will be covering the Dallas Stars this upcoming season. She helped cover the Dallas Stars during their playoff run last year. If you see her out and about in Dallas this year, make sure to welcome her to the Texas Hockey Family.

Dallas Stars October 10th Practice: Glimspe of opening night lines

The lines are pretty much what Stars fans expected after the announcement of the opening night roster yesterday. Dallas Stars The Athletic Beat Reporter Saad Yousuf published on his Twitter account the line combinations at practice this morning.

Robertson — Seguin — Pavelski

Marchment — Duchene — Dadonov

Benn — Johnston — Dellandrea

Steel — Faksa — Smith

Suter — Heiskanen

Harley — Hakanpää

Lindell — Lundkvist

Hanley

I’m pretty sure you can guess who will be the starting goalie on Thursday night. We will get to the reason why Hintz wasn’t on the ice this morning in just a second but this will more than likely be the opening night lineups for this season if everyone is healthy. If someone were to get injured, I’m sure DeBoer and the coaching staff would tinker with the lineup to put the best product out on the ice.

Dallas Stars October 10th Practice: Hintz’s absence

Now I’m sure when you saw the lineups at practice and were wondering where Hintz was. You can stop breathing into your brown paper lunch bag and take a deep breath. According to DeBoer this morning at the press conference, Hintz had a scheduled day off and will return to practice tomorrow. He has been dealing with an upper-body injury during preseason. Based on how calm DeBoer was when answering that question, it looks like the Pavelski and Sons line is good to go for Thursday.
