The Dallas Stars look to regroup after the loss against the Boston Bruins on Monday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight. The Stars looked like they had all the momentum in their favor after they scored their first goal against the Bruins on Monday. However, Mason Marchment committed a penalty and all of it went down the drain six seconds later. Let’s look at the three keys of the game tonight for the Stars against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Dallas Stars vs Columbus Blue Jackets Preview: 3. Let them have it

The Stars need to come out with an aggressive game plan after tonight’s opening puck drop. If you remember, they didn’t do that on Monday and the Bruins took advantage with two goals in the first period. That cannot happen against a weak Blue Jackets team tonight. I want to see two to three players crash the net and give their starting goaltender issues from the get-go. If the Stars can take control of the game early tonight, they should come out with a huge win on the road.

Dallas Stars vs Columbus Blue Jackets Preview: 2. Shut down Boone Jenner

The Stars need to focus their defensive efforts tonight on making sure Boone Jenner doesn’t get the puck. So far this season, Jenner has six goals and two assists for the Blue Jackets. I want to see him possibly get double-teamed by the Stars tonight. Keeping him away from Jake Oettinger or Scott Wedgewood should be their top priority tonight. If the Stars can keep Jenner away from the net, They should come out of this game with two points tonight.

Dallas Stars vs Columbus Blue Jackets Preview: 1. Please score on the power play

The one thing that the Stars need to do tonight is score on the power play. They haven’t done a good job of making other teams pay for committing penalties this season. That needs to change tonight as they take on the Blue Jackets tonight. I want to see a “crashing the net” type of power play offense tonight. I don’t want to see them make 13 passes before taking a shot on the power play. If the Stars can crash the net and make the Blue Jackets pay on the power play, they should win the game tonight.
