The Dallas Stars are in Montreal tonight to face off with the Canadiens in hopes of avoiding a sweep. But the potential sweep is nowhere near the biggest storyline to follow.
On July 26, 1987, the Benn family made hockey history as the first Benn brother officially came into the world. Jordie Benn, now 29, has been an NHL starter for the past six seasons and has made his mark on the NHL.
Two years later, the Benn clan dropped another future NHL star into the atmosphere in Jamie Benn. Now at age 27, it’s safe to say that Jamie has left a significant footprint on the game of hockey as a whole.
A forward and a defenseman. Brothers by blood and by passion. Former teammates on the Dallas Stars for six seasons. And tonight, they will do something they have never done before: play against each other.
The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, and it’s a tale of two different teams.

The Canadiens are 42-24-9 and currently sitting in first in the Atlantic Division. They are at the most three wins away from clinching a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. On the other side of things, the Dallas Stars are 31-33-11 and were mathematically eliminated from the playoff race last night.
Each team has seen a complete role reversal from their status last season, and sadly the Stars are on the wrong side of the eight ball.
But tonight is going to be all about confidence for Dallas, and of course a little friendly sibling rivalry. Surely the Benn brothers had their fair share of tussles growing up, but this one is an entirely new animal.
It’s going to be a fun ride no matter what happens. The Benn brothers have been talking about the game for a while and it seems as though they are ready to have some fun with it. There are also plenty of storylines to follow.
