Saturday will be a big day for those teams who couldn’t muster enough strength to make the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs, such as the Dallas Stars. The NHL Draft Lottery will take place in Toronto, with live coverage beginning at 7:30 ET.
If there had to be a silver lining to the 2016-2017 Dallas Stars’ season, it would be their impending luck with the draft lottery. Along with the new Vegas expansion franchise, the teams who did not qualify for the playoffs or any club with possession of any first-round pick will participate on Saturday.
The odds of the Stars scoring the first pick are a slim 5.81 percent, but that doesn’t mean you should count them out just yet. After all, crazier things have happened (Jamie Benn Art Ross winner, anyone?).
The Vegas Golden Knights were automatically given the same odds as the third-to-worst team from the regular season, which would be the Arizona Coyotes.
Let’s take a quick look at the odds for each team going into tonight’s draft lottery.
