The Dallas Stars are preparing for their 25th anniversary celebration in Texas, and with that comes plenty of excitement and fun. Here are some of the most recent details and announcements.
As hockey season grows closer, so does the Dallas Stars’ 25th anniversary season. The celebration will commemorate the Stars’ 25th year in Texas since relocating from Minnesota in 1993.
There is plenty to be excited about regarding the celebration. For the entire 2017-18 season, the Stars organization has plenty of fun planned. They made the festivities more clear this morning in an announcement.
Victory Green Carpet Walk
The Dallas Stars have a number of different events planned that will help celebrate the anniversary. It all starts on Opening Night (Oct. 6) when Dallas hosts the newest franchise to the NHL, the Vegas Golden Knights. This will be the Knights’ first game in franchise history, so it will be a big moment for the visiting team.

The home team will also have an exciting event to enjoy with the Victory Green Carpet Walk. The walk begins at 4 p.m. in Victory Plaza. A mixture of both current and former players, coaches, and team executives will take part in the walk, and fans will be able to line up alongside the carpet to watch. It should be a terrific way to ring in the 2017-18 season. Fans can begin lining up to get the best possible position at 3 p.m.
Jere Lehtinen’s retirement ceremony
As you have probably already heard about 100 times, Jere Lehtinen’s no. 26 will be retired into the rafters on Nov. 24. The retirement ceremony will take place just before the Stars’ game against the Calgary Flames that night. Single-game tickets are not on sale just yet, but it’s bound to be a sellout game. You will probably want to get your tickets as soon as possible.

Retro Night
On Feb. 3, the Dallas Stars will host the Minnesota Wild in their first ever “Retro Night.” Due to the budding rivalry between Dallas and Minnesota, this night will help revive the rich history between the two organizations. The Dallas Stars used to be known as the Minnesota North Stars up until 1993 when they moved to Texas (and those Minnesotans STILL aren’t over it).
During warmups, the Stars will don the jerseys they wore in their inaugural season in Dallas. Members of the first ever Dallas Stars roster will also be in attendance, including Neal Broten and Craig Ludwig. Specific concession items will also be cut down to reflect the prices that held true in the mid-90’s (this is really what we’re most excited about). The in-game entertainment will also look similar to how it did in the 90’s. I would speculate on that further, but considering I was not alive at that point, I cannot say much.
