The Dallas Stars are in store for an intriguing 2017-18 regular season campaign. Which players in particular might help out your fantasy team?

Everyone in the sports world knows that the arrival of the month of August brings one large occurrence with it: preseason football. The preseason brings hype to NFL fans everywhere and makes September all the more exciting.

And with preseason football comes a more interactive kind of the sport for fans: fantasy. If you’re a fantasy football fanatic, you know what I’m talking about.

But what about fantasy hockey? Do you even know that it exists? If you don’t, then news flash: it actually does.

Though it lives in the shadow of just about every other fantasy sport (especially in Texas), it is still an entertaining version of fantasy that you can immerse yourself in. If you want to start your own fantasy hockey league or join one, ESPN and Yahoo! Sports typically offers the best experiences.

So once you have a league and some companions to play with, it’s time to host a draft. And before you come up with some harebrain scheme as a Dallas Stars diehard fan, listen to these words: DO NOT DRAFT A TEAM FILLED WITH STARS.

If your entire roster is filled with Dallas Stars players, you will likely be in trouble. That’s not to say that the Stars are going to flop this year, but it wouldn’t be smart to replicate the Stars roster.

That doesn’t mean you can’t pick up a few of their big players, though. Here are a few Dallas Stars players that you might want to think about drafting on your way to fantasy hockey supremacy.

First round obvious choices

Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin are two obvious players. If you are in a league with 10 or more users, both of these players are smart first-round selections. They both play on the top line, are efficient scorers, and can put up 70-80 points per season when healthy.

These are likely the only two that you should be looking at in the first round.

Second round possibilities

If you are still looking for offensive help in the second round, a good pickup will likely be Alexander Radulov. He put up 54 points last season with Montreal and was one of their most dedicated and consistent forwards. Put him on the top line this year with Benn and Seguin and you are looking at a stellar opportunity to rack up points.

The second round is also where you might want to pick up a goaltender like Ben Bishop. If he and the Stars defense can mesh well, he could very easily be a top-ten goalie in the league this year.

Third round probables

With the addition of Marc Methot, John Klingberg will likely return to his former status as a point-grabbing defender. He’ll have his confidence back and be able to flex his offensive muscles.

Another good addition could be Martin Hanzal, considering he’ll skate second line minutes and have a playmaker alongside him in Jason Spezza.

Dark horse candidates

A few names that you may want to keep on your radar as late-round additions would be Julius Honka, Radek Faksa, and Mattias Janmark. Each one will serve in a depth role (at least to begin the season) but could still put up solid numbers that could help your team out.

So go and try out fantasy hockey if you have nothing else to do. There are plenty of Dallas Stars that could give your team a boost on your way to fantasy glory in the season ahead.
