The 25th anniversary anniversary celebration will be a big one for the Dallas Stars. Even their center ice logo will pay tribute to them this season.

The Dallas Stars will spend the 2017-18 season celebrating their 25th year in Dallas. In 1993, Minnesota North Stars owner Norm Green decided to move the team south, and all of Big D rejoiced.

Now here we are 25 years later, and the Stars are still around and making lots of noise. They also have a pretty passionate and diverse fanbase around them. The fact that the team has made it this long is cause for celebration. After all, “hockey in Texas” is an almost impossible concept to comprehend.

The 25th anniversary celebration begins on opening night and will last the entire season. It’s looking to be an exciting addition to what already looks like a fun season on the ice.

Fans, former players, executives, and special members of the Dallas Stars family will help out with the celebrations throughout the year. And as of yesterday, something else will help ring in and reiterate the celebrations: the center ice logo.

On Monday morning, the ice at the American Airlines Center was painted in preparation for the 2017-18 season. All of the official lines and creases were painted in, and they also spent some time at center ice.

The Stars’ social media accounts made it a game for the fans for a few minutes before officially revealing it. They put a giant dot over the middle and had fans guess what the new design would be.

This was primarily because of the sudden change that happened at center ice last year. The Stars had played three straight years with the customary primary logo in the center ice circle, but all of a sudden made a change. The team switched to their secondary logo (which is used for the shoulder patches on the jersey) for the 2016-17 center ice design.

If you missed last season, let’s just say that maybe the logo change wasn’t the best good luck charm. If you believe in bad omens (as many Stars fans do), that could certainly be considered as one.

So they switched it. To what, you might ask? Well, take a peek at the video below for a closer look.

Pretty fancy, huh? In honor of their 25th season in Dallas, the Stars have a giant “25” backing up their primary logo at center ice this year.

Not a half bad way to help ring in the festivities. The center ice logo will serve as a constant reminder to Stars fans this year about just how much time has passed.
