Dallas Stars: What We Are Thankful For On Thanksgiving 2017
As the Dallas Stars take a much-needed day off, it’s time to celebrate Thanksgiving. Let’s take a moment and ponder on all that we have to be thankful for.
It wasn’t the greatest Thanksgiving Eve celebration for the Dallas Stars. After securing a positive 3-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night, the Stars followed it up on Wednesday night with a puzzling 3-0 loss to the Colorado Avalanche. The loss dropped Dallas into dead last in the Central Division standings at 11-10-1 overall.
But today is not the day to point out and stress over the team’s flaws. Instead, it’s a day to be thankful. From all of us here at Blackout Dallas, we want to wish you all a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
With the NHL going into freeze mode today and no hockey action scheduled until tomorrow, it’s the perfect time to eat some good food, kick back, and watch the other sport that involves hitting, being football. After all, the Dallas Cowboys play at 3:30 on CBS. Go ahead and tune in whether you love them or hate them.
Oh, and don’t eat too much food to where you cannot make your way to the AAC on Friday night for Jere Lehtinen’s jersey retirement ceremony. The Dallas Stars will welcome the Calgary Flames to Big D on Friday night in hopes of getting back in the win column. They will need all the help they can get, so make sure you are still mobile after your Thanksgiving feast.

But also be sure to take some time today and reflect on all that you are thankful for. You may have a few things or you may have an immensely long list. Either way, make sure to share your thanks with friends and family throughout the day.
We here at Blackout Dallas are thankful for some things as well.
First off, we are thankful for the Dallas Stars organization as a whole. Without the team, most Stars fans probably wouldn’t even be following the NHL. I would also be a 20-year-old kid with way too much time on his hands and would likely have no experience in my desired career field. But I don’t have that problem because of the Stars’ presence and impact.
From the players and coaches to the management and staff, they do an excellent job at keeping things running smoothly and are a grade-A organization to interact with. So major thanks go out to the Dallas Stars hockey club.
Secondly, we are thankful for each other here at the site. When I first started with Blackout Dallas in April 2014, the site consisted of only me and one other writer. Plenty of writers have cycled through since then, but Allison, Micaela, and Tom are holding strong. Allison has been with the site for 3+ years now, Micaela has been writing for 2+ years, and Tom is approaching his one year anniversary.
They make running the site a fun and simple job, and I cannot thank them enough for their continued efforts. It’s their hard work that helps the site grow stronger each day and keep moving in the right direction. I would like to thank them for their effort and support in running this show. It really is a joy working with this family.

Finally, we would like to thank all of you. The 2017-18 season has been an unexpected one so far and only looks to become more confusing and unpredictable (especially after last night) as the year rolls on. We want to thank you all for sticking with us through the ups and downs of this rollercoaster season. Whether you have been checking in for three years or just found the site last week, your support and enthusiasm means the world.
You might not know just how much it means to us, but it truly means more than words can express. The entire staff here at Blackout Dallas thanks you for your continued fandom and following. We are experiencing our largest growth since I joined the site three years ago, and that bodes well for the future. Thank you again from the bottom of our puck-shaped hearts.
Today is a great day to be thankful for whatever helps brighten your life (Alexander Radulov’s toothless grin, Kari Lehtonen’s newborn son, the fact that the Dallas Stars aren’t dead last in the NHL). So make sure to take a moment today and thank the friends and family that leave a significant mark on your life. Oh, and eat a lot of delicious food and get ready for tomorrow’s game against Calgary.

We are taking the rest of the day off to celebrate the holiday with our families and friends. We will be back tomorrow morning for game coverage and all things Jere Lehtinen.
Have a great Thanksgiving, Stars fans.
