We all liked Radek Faksa before, but after his stunning performance for the Dallas Stars last night, no one can deny the value he’s added to the team.
A whole bunch of special things happened for the Dallas Stars last night. It hasn’t been the smoothest sailing so far this season, and the Stars have really been feeling the stress and strain of the road. Against a hot team like Vegas, it all seemed a bit more daunting.
But the Stars did have a few tricks up their sleeve in last night’s game. First off, the dads were along for the ride and no doubt added a measure of extra motivation. But at the end of the night, the biggest secret weapon the Stars had turned out to be a hat trick from an unlikely source.
Okay, maybe it was a more likely source than we gave it credit for. Radek Faksa has been a major player in the development of the Stars’ offense, even though his name might not be at the forefront all the time. He’s been a fixture of the Stars’ depth scoring ability and proved why by sealing the deal on a bunch of firsts in the 3-0 win.
There were so many monumental achievements that the Stars unexpectedly stumbled into last night that it’s just better to list them all.

1. First of all, Radek Faksa’s first career hat trick.
That one speaks for itself, really. Those that have been passionate about following Faksa’s development as a Stars forward couldn’t have been surprised.
2. If that wasn’t good enough, it was the first ever hat trick scored in T-Mobile Arena.
If a dominating shut-out wasn’t the most epic way to put the Stars’ first game in Vegas to bed, then recording the first ever hat trick to be scored on their opponent’s turf HAS to be. That one is going to be stinging for a while in Vegas.
3. Faksa also shattered the Stars’ record for quickest pair of goals scored by the same player in franchise history. He scored his only 8 seconds apart.
Previously, Roman Lyashenko scored two goals only 10 seconds apart in Chicago to set the Dallas Stars’ record. But Radek Faksa put his skate down and said, no more. Altogether, his hat trick was complete within 7 minutes and change.
4. On a larger scale, Faksa’s hat trick snapped a super heavy 4 road game losing streak.
The road has not been kind to the Stars this season. If not for Faksa’s miraculous scoring trinity, the Stars might still be under the thumb of the away game. Only (a bit) more time will tell if this victory truly did help rewrite the Stars’ troubled away mentality, but it seems like a great step.
5. This one isn’t about Faksa, but we’re on a roll so we might as well: Ben Bishop put forth an epic performance to saddle the Golden Knights with their first shut-out loss. EVER.
That’s pretty epic. If you have to go down in the book for firsts in a negative way, it had better be the other team’s book, right? The Dallas Stars are making Vegas history, and just in the way we want.
