The Dallas Stars saw captain Jamie Benn break his scoreless drought with the overtime winner in a 3-2 game against the St. Louis Blues. Now that he seems to have found his groove again, the Stars need this version of No. 14 to stay.
Jamie Benn came up big for the Dallas Stars over the weekend in a Central Division game against the St. Louis Blues. His overtime tally signified a big move in the right direction for the captain and the team.
Leading by Example
No. 14 is a player who thrives on playing the right way. He knows that the eyes of the team are on him when he hits the ice, practices in the weight room and goes about the business of the NHL.
That helps fuel his game and make him a better leader. Unfortunately, with that style of play, when a drought happens, there is a lot of blame. He becomes a frustrated player with only a piece of the talent he posses.

Moving Forward
With the team having a number of notable young players, seeing a guy like Benn go through the motions and succeed is huge.
They are in the process of creating routines they’ll follow for the remainder of their NHL careers. If they get it down now, it sets Dallas up for the future.
When he’s playing the way he can, Benn is one of the best forwards in the NHL. However, when he’s not, he fades into the background.
