The Dallas Stars prospects have been through a lot in the last couple of days up in Traverse City. Stars’ Fans have seen the highs and the lows from the prospects on Thursday and Friday respectively. However, they have one last game against the Columbus Blue Jackets this morning. The Stars want to finish this tournament off with an upset against a top-ten farm system the Blue Jackets have. Here’s how the Stars can finish the prospect tournament on a high note short-handed.
Dallas Stars vs. Columbus Blue Jackets Preview: 3. Find a way
The Stars have got to find a way to win short-handed this morning. As I mentioned in the postgame report against the Maple Leafs, three prospects have been ruled out for the rest of the tournament. It’s good news that all three are more than likely to be ready in time for training camp. You could tell in the third period that the Stars were gassed as they had nothing left in the tank. They need to find some extra energy to survive against the Blue Jackets.
Dallas Stars vs. Columbus Blue Jackets Preview: 2. Set up Logan Stankoven
Logan Stankoven had so many chances to score against the Maple Leafs the other day. Unfortunately, all the chances he had were intercepted by the Maple Leafs. He had a good chance on a breakaway but it hit the top of the crossbar in what looked like an easy goal for him. He looked good in the second game and I expect him to put on a show for the coaching staff as a preview of what’s to come during training camp.
Dallas Stars vs. Columbus Blue Jackets Preview: 1. Have fun
What should be most important for this game is for the prospects to have some fun today. It’s not the end of the world for all the prospects if the Stars lose this game. These games are for prospects to learn what they need to work on with their junior hockey clubs this upcoming season. It would be fun to see them have a high-scoring game today and pull off the upset.
