Wanting to get into Dallas Stars hockey but don’t know what to do with the regular season right around the corner? We’ve got you covered.

The Dallas Stars have arguably the best brand of hockey in the league right now and that’s a luxury 29 other teams would die for. With that said, if you haven’t been to a game yet or you need suggestions for how to get the absolute most Dallas has to offer, you’ve come to the right place.

Arrive Early

Warm-ups are an often overlooked aspect of hockey because people think the players are just skating around. That isn’t the case, though. Dallas warm-ups are a time to see the players up close without having to splurge on glass seats.

Arriving early offers the opportunity to see the most up-to-date line combinations for the game. They let fans know if a player is injured and which goaltender will be in the crease. If you’re at all into the make-up of the game on a more specific level, warm-ups are for you.

Plus even if you’re not someone who cares about line combinations, warm-ups are a chance to see interviews up close and show off home-made signs. Warm-up pucks are even thrown, or accidentally shot, into the crowds and make some of the best souvenirs.

Be Loud and Proud

Whether you’re a long-time season ticket holder or a brand new hockey fan, Dallas is a great city to express your love for the game in.

Maybe it’s the fact that there is representation from every sport in Texas or because it’s in the south and people “don’t care about hockey”. But Dallas is accepting of all levels of hockey fandom.

With that said, you can feel comfortable yelling or sitting in silence and people won’t care. Feel free to ask those around you if you’re confused about what’s happening, but please wait until the play has stopped.

Stay Late

Even if the Stars are down by six goals with a minute left, you don’t get the full experience of the game unless you stay late. You miss the announcement of the three stars and you don’t have the opportunity to relish in victories.

The Stars have routinely skated to center ice and saluted the fans at the end of wins, which is their way of giving back to the crowd. Those little things allow fans to really grow in their love of the team and appreciation for all they do on the ice.

You can even go see 1310 the Ticket’s post-game analysis show live in the concourse, which features a player nearly every night. Unless you have another obligation or a young child, leaving early is rarely a good look.

Regular Season Around the Corner

With that said, you don’t have to do all of those things to have a good time at a Dallas Stars game. They’re a fast, young team and the energy at the American Airlines Center is incredible.

Hockey fans can rejoice in the fact that it’s right around the corner after waiting what seems like forever. Your first chance to make the most of a Stars game is this Thursday. Dallas will open the season at home against the Anaheim Ducks.
