Dallas Stars Must Continue Looking Forward In Order To Improve
No team wants to be on the kind of streak the Stars are on right now. They’ve lost their mojo and fail to work together as a team, and it shows. That, however, is in the past. Now, there’s nothing to do but move forward.
The Dallas Stars are on the verge of being a .500 team. That’s not what this roster should be doing, nor is it what the intention was at the start of the season. Luckily, they’re entering into their bye week on a high note and have a chance to get away from it all.
Before they do, though, it’s important to remember a few things.
Success is Possible
In the more difficult part of seasons, it can be difficult for teams to remember what winning feels like. They can begin to doubt themselves and whether they’re actually a good team or not. That mindset is cancerous and can cause teams to completely deflate — looking at you 2017-18 Stars.

So it’s important that the team remembers they have been successful in the past. They shutout the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena, which many teams are unable to do. They beat the defending champions and limited their best players’ shots to a minimal amount. That’s just two of many examples.
The Stars are in a rough stretch right now, but they’re not a bad team. Staying positive is necessary for them to get back on track.
Adversity Happens
Although it’s unfair to say that injuries are the reason the Dallas Stars have issues this year, it’s hard to ignore the impact they’ve had. Of course, players being out of the line-up influences how a team is able to perform; however, it’s something that only time can heal.
There’s no use in fretting on the injured players of the past or present. It’s unfortunate that guys like Stephen Johns haven’t so much as stepped foot on the ice this season, but that’s how the cookie crumbled.

Teams overcome adversity like the Stars have had this year and are better because of it, so it’s key to stay focused on that moving forward.
Lean on Leadership
While Jamie Benn hasn’t been the best player on the Stars this season, he’s still the captain. And he brings a lot of experience and leadership to this team. The rest of the players need to lean on the leadership in the room, regardless of who it comes from, if they hope to right the ship.
A good shift from one line can instill confidence in the team that can be infused in other areas of the ice. A good hit can re-energize the bench. A sloppy goal can remind this team that they can, in fact, put pucks in the net. Benn did a few of those things on Saturday night against the Winnipeg Jets, as did some other players.
It’s really all about perspective for this team, and the leadership qualities each player possesses are one of the things that will get them back in the win column consistently.
Bottom Line
Unfortunately, this is where the Dallas Stars are at. Although it’s not ideal, it’s the situation at hand. The Stars can do nothing more than move forward and continue to work if they want to improve and see brighter days.
